One sunny afternoon in early June 2015, I was on Facebook and endlessly scrolling in one of the groups for female entrepreneurs that I'm a member of when I came across a post about Episode 177 of the Biz Chix Podcast by Natalie Eckdahl. This was one of the first times I'd ever heard of a podcast, but I was curious about podcasting and the title of the episode--How to Pitch a Podcaster with Kira Hug--caught my eye. So I listened...and at the end of the 70 minute episode I was totally in love with Natalie Eckdahl and her amazing podcast for female entrepreneurs. I subscribed to the Biz Chix Podcast via the podcasts app on my iPhone and every week I look forward to Tuesday morning, when Natalie releases a new episode. I often treat new episodes as a 'bribe' and will make myself complete a project that I've been procrastinating on before allowing myself to relax with a cup of tea while listening to the podcast. It's amazing how quickly I can complete a task when I know that a new episode of my favourite podcast is waiting for me! It's always hard to choose favourites, but here are my top two favourite series from the Biz Chix Podcast: Small Biz Reality SeriesMy all-time favourite series was the Small Biz Reality Series (episodes 216-232). What I liked best about this series was the on-air coaching, and every time I listened to one of the coaching episodes it would feel like I was being coached. I was so sad when this series ended! Episode 216: Is This a Business, Hobby or Charity? The series with began with this episode, where Natalie talks about how to determine if your business is a actually a business, or if it's a hobby or a charity instead. Episode 217: Media Coaching and How to Get Noticed with Donna Cravotta I loved the advice that Donna Cravotta shared in this episode as she coached Natalie about how she can leverage media exposure to grow her business. Episode 225: Are You Solving a Big Enough Problem? In this episode Natalie encourages you to really think about your business and how you can solve a problem or fulfill a fantasy. At the 20:53 mark Natalie talks about me and and how my biz has changed to fulfill a fantasy. Masterminds, Networking, and Teams SeriesAfter listening to the series on Masterminding, Networking and Teams (episodes 191-202), I thought that it would be nice to mastermind with other women in dairy farming and cheese making. Earlier this year I was a member in Natalie's paid mastermind groups for six months to learn about masterminding first hand, and I keep referring to these two episodes as I start my own mastermind. Episode #201: Design Your Mastermind (or Team) Natalie talks about how to start a mastermind and shares resources in this episode. Episode #202: Masterminding Quick Tips and Series Wrap-Up This is the final episode in the series, and Natalie shares ten quick tips and her final thoughts on masterminds. Listening to the Biz Chix Podcast was the beginning of what I call my 'podcast addiction'. My business has changed--in a good way--since I started listening to this podcast, and if you're a woman in biz I highly recommend that you subscribe as well.
