Birdsong Autumn Aster GP 83 (sold in 2015)
BIRDSONG AUTUMN ASTER was born on Birdsong Farm on September 5, 2009. I choose the name Autumn Aster because she was born in the autumn and the wild aster had started blooming that week. Aster's sire is SELECT-SCOTT MINISTER -ET EX 90, and her dam is BIRDSONG SUMMER BLOSSOM. Aster is registered as 50% pure with Jersey Canada; please click on the Jersey Canada logo below to view her pedigree. If bred with a registered Jersey bull, Aster's female offspring can be registered as 75% pure with Jersey Canada.
I've always milked Aster by hand, and she gives between twelve and sixteen quarts of rich, creamy milk a day, going as high as twenty-four quarts a day after she first calves or when she is on pasture. She is tested as type A1/A2 for Beta Casein and type A/B for Kappa Casein.
Aster was genotyped with the 80K SNP panel, and she has a GLPI of 736 and a DGV of 721 (Apr*15; 41% reliability); please click here to view her genotyping report. Her results for JH1 (Jersey Haplotype 1) are 99%, or tested positive; her results for JH2 (Jersey Haplotype 2) are 1%, or tested negative.
Aster was classified as GP 80 (3-1, 418 DIM) on October 11, 2012 and as GP 83 (5-4, 195 DIM) on January 24, 2015; please click here to view her classification reports.
Aster has had three calves, and their names and birth dates are:
Due to limited space in my barn, I had to sell Aster in 2015 and on July 6th she left for her new farm in Sunnybrook, Alberta. Thank you to Nicole Kezama and family for giving Aster (and her calf Nuri) a good home!
